Radiation is naturally occurring. For over half a century, the nuclear industry has enriched, concentrated and manufactured radioactive isotopes for use not only in its own industry but also for the benefit of others, such as mining, defence, medicine and scientific research.

Today, there are many thousands of sources in use, which will require careful storage and monitoring prior to their final disposal.

Many of these sources are now reaching the end of their useful life and consideration needs to be given to their future.

High Activity Sealed Sources (or HASS) have become a bug bear for many of our clients.  The legislation makes a specific requirement on reporting, monitoring and financial provision for these sources.  ACB does not handle HASS at its own facility.  However, we do manage HASS directly into the disposal facilites.  Whilst we make no charge for quoting, we can only obtain a quote for those sources that are genuinely up for disposal.

We will be more than happy to provide you with a current estimate, again at no charge, for your financial provision purposes should you need it.

Recycling

This is where ACB can help, by providing certificated, approved and safe disposal routes, focused on recycling, where possible, for all radioactive isotopes and materials.
